UCI’s Hiura named third-team preseason All-American

UC Irvine sophomore Keston Hiura was named third-team preseason All-American by D1Baseball.

Hiura is the lone representative of the Big West Conference so honored.

Hiura earlier was named second-team All-American by Perfect Game earlier this month.

The Big West Freshman Player of the Year in 2015 paced the conference with 52 runs batted in and 18 doubles. He logged 75 hits, including a pair of triples and seven home runs.

Hiura was second on the team with a .330 average and shared the team lead in slugging at .520.

UCI opens the season Feb. 19 at San Jose State.
