RIVERSIDE — The No. 6-ranked Anteaters rebounded from a sluggish start to claim a 27-29, 25-15, 25-17, 25-16 victory in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation road match on Wednesday.

Middle blockers Matt Younggren and Andrew Benz hit .636 and .533, respectively, while producing eight kills apiece.

Thomas Hodges produced a match-high 16 kills for UCI.

Michael Saeta hit .556 (six kills) and added 34 assists, four aces, five digs and three blocks for the winners (8-3, 5-2 in conference).

Cal Baptist is 2-8, 1-6.

Orange Coast def. El Camino

TORRANCE — The Pirates opened their season with a 15-16, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21 nonconference win at El Camino on Wednesday.

Justin Kam had 19 kills, while Matt Ujkic added 12 for the Pirates, who received nine kills on 12 swings from Brad Hankus.

Jacob Gilliam, an Edison High product, had 34 assists and three aces for OCC.
