UCI women’s basketball falls to UCSB

SANTA BARBARA — Andee Ritter and Irene Chavez had 16 points apiece for the visiting Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Thursday.

Chavez was five for nine from three-point range and added three steals.

Ritter had six rebounds for UCI (4-25, 2-13 in conference).

UCI was nine for 24 from three-point range, but eight for 35 inside the arc.

UCSB posted a 47-27 rebounding advantage.

Natalia Bruening, a Corona del Mar High product, scored two points and grabbed five rebounds.

UCSB is 12-15, 8-7.
