Estancia 90, La Quinta 77

Jason Chesemore won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 freestyle for the Eagles in Wednesday’s nonleague meet at Estancia High.

Chesemore touched in 2 minutes, 20.09 seconds to win the IM, and 52.21 seconds in the 100 free. Other individual winners included Kent Lim (50 free, 25.13), Victor Castillo (500 free, 6:42.83) and Alex Epperson (100 backstroke, 1:06.38).

Epperson, Chris DeFrenza, Lim and Chesemore won the 200 medley relay in 1:55.58, and the same quartet won the 400 free relay in 3:49.92.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

La Quinta 95, Estancia 75

Hayley Hopp and Finley Garnett each won two individual events for the Eagles in Wednesday’s nonleague meet.

Hopp captured the 500-yard freestyle in 6:40.91, as well as the 200 free in 2:28.69. Garnett won the 50 free in 28.68 seconds, as well as the 100 free (1:10.26).

Garnett, Alex Adkisson, Hopp and Brandi White combined to win the 200 free relay in 1:59.12.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Newport Harbor 11, Mission Viejo 3

MISSION VIEJO — Senior captain Jordan Rausch had seven takeaways and five ground balls for the Sailors in Tuesday’s season opener on the road.

Senior captain Rylie Siegfried had three goals, an assist and three draw controls in the midfield, while junior captain Katie Hendrix had a game-high eight ground balls and scored twice. Sophomore Adena Rothbard had two goals and one assist, with three ground balls. Senior goalie Hannah Sanders made five saves.

Darby O’Mahony (three ground balls, one goal), Heather Roberts (two ground balls and two assists) also contributed, while Caitlin Dwyer, Jessica Woodruff and Lysie Kenney also scored.

Newport Harbor plays at Foothill on Friday.
