Estancia’s White tabbed as Co-MVP

Estancia High senior girls’ soccer player Brandi White earned Co-MVP honors in the Orange Coast League after helping the Eagles win their second straight league title.

White is joined by Estancia senior forward Emily Rodriguez, junior midfielders Katarina Freiberger and Delani Guyot and sophomore defender Lexina McDowell as first-team all-league selections. Costa Mesa sophomore Sierra Dixon also earned first-team all-league status.

White, a team captain and four-year varsity player, helped anchor the Eagles’ defense as a center back. Estancia (14-6-4, 7-1-2 in league) advanced to the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs, where it lost to Oxnard Pacifica in penalty kicks.

Rodriguez, another team-captain and four-year varsity player, led Estancia with 10 goals and tied for the team lead with four assists. Freiberger, the third and final team captain, was third on the squad with six goals and added three assists.

Guyot was second in Estancia with eight goals, many of those coming on set pieces, while McDowell was valuable for her defensive prowess and her front-flip throw-ins.

Dixon was a standout defender for the Mustangs, who finished 3-16-2, 1-7-2 in league. They were fifth in the six-team league.

Estancia junior defenders Elizabeth Esquivel and Samantha Haynes and sophomore midfielder Tabytha Smith earned second-team all-league honors, as did Mesa junior defender Emily Olivera and junior striker Regina Ranieri.

White shared the league MVP award with Godinez senior Jennifer Ramirez. Calvary Chapel junior Gabi Haw earned Most Valuable Goalie honors.
