Breakers release schedule

The Orange County Breakers released their World Team Tennis schedule for 2017 on Tuesday, and the franchise will play seven home matches at Palisades Tennis Club in Newport Beach in July and August.

“The 2017 schedule worked out well in the fact that Breakers fans will get to see every team in the league at least once,” Breakers General Manager Allen Hardison said in a release. “We also get to host our rival San Diego twice, so we are very much looking forward to welcoming all these great teams and players to Orange County this summer.”

The Breakers have their home opener July 17 against the Springfield Lasers. They play host to the New York Empire on July 22 and the Springfield Lasers the following night, with the third match in three days at home against 2016 World Team Tennis Champion San Diego on July 24.

The Breakers also conclude the 2017 season with a three-match homestand against San Diego on July 31, Washington on Aug. 1 and the Philadelphia Freedoms on Aug. 2, which will be Fan Appreciation Night.

Orange County also has seven away matches: July 16 at San Diego; July 19 at Washington; July 20 at New York; July 25 at San Diego; July 27 at New York; July 28 at Philadelphia and July 29 at Washington.

The Breakers previously announced their roster for the 2017 season, including Yanina Wickmayer, Michael Venus, Andreja Klepac and Teymuraz Gabashvili.

All Breakers home matches will be played at Breakers Stadium at Palisades Tennis Club. Breakers season tickets will go on sale in early April.
