The 22nd annual Toshiba Classic will take place Oct. 5 through Oct. 9 at Newport Beach Country Club, tournament officials announced Friday.

The event has been moved to an earlier date in October than last year, when it was the last event before the season finale, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. But this year’s Toshiba Classic remains an important lead-in event to the Champions Tour newly formed Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs.

Tickets for the five-day Toshiba Classic are now on sale at https://www.toshibaclassic.com/tickets.

One-day grounds tickets are $25 if purchased in advance and $30 if purchased at the event. Newport Beach Country Club will be closed to the public Monday and Tuesday of tournament week.

The Newport Beach Country Club’s newly renovated state-of-the-art clubhouse is expected to be completed before the Toshiba Classic takes place.

Throughout its rich history, the Toshiba Classic has featured the best players on the Champions Tour.

Last year, Duffy Waldorf won the Toshiba Classic with a tournament-record score of 20 under par.

Waldorf set a tournament record with 26 birdies, which tied the Legends Tour mark, by shooting 67-60-66—190 to post a two-shot margin over runner-up Joe Durant. The most birdies previously in a Toshiba Classic were 21. Waldorf’s second-round 60 tied the Newport Beach Country Club course record.

It was Waldorf’s first win in 73 Champions Tour starts and the four-time PGA Tour winner’s first triumph since 2000.

The Toshiba Classic’s lead charity and operator is The Hoag Hospital Foundation, and this year’s tournament will benefit the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center at Hoag for the sixth consecutive year. The Hoag Hospital Foundation received the inaugural PGA Champions Tour Charity of the Year Award in 1998.
