SANTA BARBARA — Mary Brooks and Emily Carlson scored two goals apiece to help the No. 7-ranked Anteaters prevail in the third-place game of the Big West Conference Tournament on Sunday at UC Santa Babara.

UCI finsihes 19-11, while Long Beach, the regular-season conference champion, is 17-12.

Golden State Athletic Conference Championship

SANTA BARBARA — Freshman Winston Lawson won the high jump and scored 26.25 points in five events to help Vanguard University finish third in the team standings in the meet held last week at Westmont College.

Lawson cleared 6 feet, 6 3/4 inches in the high jump, was second in the 110-meter high hurdles (14.98 seconds), was fifth in the 200 in 22.68 and was sixth in the long jump (21-2 1/3). He also contributed to the fourth-place 4x400 relay team.

Freshman Zach Allmon was second in the high jump (6-4 3/4) and was sixth in the triple jump, shot put, discus and hammer throw to accumulate 19 team points.

Senior Quinton Alexander was third in the long jump with a personal-best 21-11 and also finished fourth in the 110 hurdles, fifth in the high jump and seventh in both the 100 and 400 intermediate hurdles.

Junior Zach DeAtley was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9 minutes, 54.07 seconds) and was fifth in the 5,000.

Freshman Alec Duran was fourth in the 100 and 200and part of the fourth-place 4x400 relay for the Lions.

Freshman Nathan Miramontes was third in the decathlon, while freshman Noah Eley was fourth in the 400 and sixth in the 200.

Freshman Zac Way was fourth in the decathlon, while freshmen Daniel Alade and Alex Alvarez were fifth in the triple jump and discus, respectively.

The top three finishers in each event earned all-conference honors.

SANTA BARBARA — Freshman Lydia Perrigo won the shot put and earned 24 individual points to lead Vanguard University to a third-place finish in the meet completed last week at Westmont College.

Perrigo’s winning shot put mark was 40 feet, 5 1/2 inches and she was second in the hammer throw (130-0 1/4) and third in the discus (104-6 3/4).

Senior Ashley Ramey was third in the 100 meters (13.23 seconds) and was fifth in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the 400 hurdles. She also helped Vanguard earn points in two relays.

Lauren Cooper was fourth in the javelin, while Daphni Kilgore was fifth in the heptathlon, sixth in the high jump and eighth in the javelin.

Kaylee Minnick was fifth in the discus, eighth in the shot put and eighth in the hammer throw, while Gionni Blankenship was sixth in the 100 and eighth in the high jump.

Ayana Chambers was sixth in the 100 hurdles, while Sarah Finch, Bayleigh Porter, Kelli Dorn and Lauren Soholt all contributed to relay teams that scored for the Lions.
