UCI baseball team edges UCLA

UC Irvine 4, UCLA 2 (10 innings)

LOS ANGELES — Adam Alcantara singled with the bases loaded to break a 2-2 tie in the 10th inning and lift the visiting Anteaters in the nonconference game Friday.

Keston Hiura went five for five to lead UCI (26-17), which halted a three-game losing streak.

Ben Ritchey earned the win in relief of starter Elliot Surrey, while Calvin Faucher worked a perfect 10th inning to record his eighth save.

Surrey allowed one earned run on seven hits in 7 2/3 innings.

UCLA felt o 21-22.

The two teams meet Saturday at 2 p.m. at UCI.
