OC All-Star volleyball matches feature local players
The 39th annual Dave Mohs Memorial OC All-Star Matches take place Friday night at Newport Harbor High.
The event begins with the girls’ match at 6 p.m. and the boys’ match follows at 7:30 p.m.
The All-Star North girls’ team features Corona del Mar High’s Payton Carter (SMU), Jessie Harris (Princeton) and Natalia Bruening (UC Santa Barbara, basketball), as well as Newport Harbor’s Remy Wilson (UCLA) and Jaclyn Brown (Irvine Valley).
The All-Star North boys’ team will have CdM’s Matt Ctvrtlik (Harvard), Sam Kobrine (UCLA) and Will Hunter (USC), as well as Costa Mesa senior Mason Tafuga (Stanford).
CdM Coach Steve Conti will guide the North All-Stars.
The event will also be a fundraiser for Lucy Fisher, the 2-year-old sister of Owen Fisher, who plays on the Balboa Bay Club 14s team. Lucy was diagnosed with a soft heart murmur. It was also discovered her heart did not form properly and she will need open-heart surgery.
The volleyball community is trying to raise money for the Fisher family for the medical costs.
Donations to the Fisher family can be made at the door or snack bar. Checks can also be made to Jesse and Anna Fisher.
