Sage Hill pitcher Super honored nationally by MaxPreps

Sage Hill School pitcher Brett Super earned MaxPreps Small Schools All-American honors in baseball for leading the Lightning to the CIF Southern Section Division 6 title as a junior last season.

Super, the CIF Southern Section Division 6 Player of the Year, finished 13-0 with a 0.51 earned-run average and two saves. In 97 innings, he struck out 133 and walked only 20. The right-hander’s final 41 innings were scoreless.

Sage Hill (28-1 and 10-0 in the Academy League) won its last 27 games, which is an Orange County record. In the last game, the section final at UC Riverside in June, Super threw a three-hitter in top-seeded Sage Hill’s 9-0 victory over No. 2 Crean Lutheran, bringing home the program’s first section championship.

Super, who tossed a perfect game and a no-hitter during the season, was the Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team Player of the Year, the Academy League MVP, and he made the All-Orange County third team. He finished with eight complete games, six resulting in shutouts.

Super batted .268 with three home runs and 24 runs batted in. He finished with four triples, two doubles, 20 runs and 14 walks.
