MEN’S GOLF

Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON — UC Irvine sophomore David Kim earned medalist honors at the three-day event completed Saturday at the Stockton Golf & Country Club.

Kim shot two-under-par 69 in the final round to finish at four-under 209 over 54 holes. He bested Taylor Knott of Sacramento State by one stroke.

UCI was third among 16 teams, 15 shots off the pace of victorious Sacramento State.

Senior Jacob Schulze was 23rd (221) and freshman Jefferson Kao was 32nd (223) for UCI.

Vanguard 6, William Jessup 1

Jesus Fregoso had two goals and Ivan Azpeita added one goal and an assist to lead the host Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference contest on Saturday.

No. 13-ranked Vanguard (14-3, 8-2 in conference) also received goals from Juan Espinoza, Angel Maldonado and Carlos Yepez.

The Lions finish the regular season second in the GSAC, one point behind Biola. Vanguard will be the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

WJU is 5-11-1, 2-8.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Vanguard 5, William Jessup 1

Madison Cody Farell scored twice and Madison Lopp had a goal and two assists to pace the host Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference match on Saturday.

No. 13-ranked Vanguard (13-4-1, 7-2-1 in conference) finished the regular season in third place, one point behind co-champions Biola and Westmont. The Lions will be the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament.

WJU is 11-7, 4-6.

UC Santa Barbara 6, UC Irvine 5

SANTA BARBARA — The No. 7-ranked Anteaters led, 5-2, in the third quarter, but the No. 6-ranked Gauchos stormed back in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game Saturday.

UCSB scored the game-winner with one second left.

UCI is 11-8, 1-4 in conference. UCSB is 14-8, 3-4.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Big West Conference Championships

RIVERSIDE — UC Irvine junior Isaiah Thompson finished fifth to lead the Anteaters on Saturday at UC Riverside.

Thompson covered 8,000 meters in 24 minutes, 24.22 seconds to earn all-conference honors and help UCI finish fifth as a team.

Izzak Mireles (25th in 25:15.64), Branden Randall (26th in 25:17.09) and Eric Lawver (39th in 25:53.83) also scored for UCI.

Bryan Guijarro of UC Santa Barbara was the individual winner in 24:01.94.

UCI finished with 132 points, 101 behind victorious UCSB.

The Anteaters travel to Seattle for the NCAA West Regional on Nov. 13.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Big West Conference Championships

RIVERSIDE — UC Irvine senior Pearl Law finished 42nd and the Anteaters were ninth as a team on Saturday at UC Riverside.

Law completed the 6,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 20.32 seconds.

Lisa Vasquez (45th in 22:29.75) and Aliya Shah (48th in 22:39.73) also cracked the top 50 for UCI.

Faith Maku of UC Riverside won the race in 20:27.50.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo captured the team title with 39 points.
