Sage Hill girls’ tennis team advances

CAMARILLO — Maya Byrd, Cat Kiani and Jaclyn Gerschultz all won twice in singles for the Lightning in Friday’s CIF Southern Section Division 2 second-round match on the road.

The doubles teams of Connie Yu and Michelle Hung, as well as Nicole Condas and Michele Chin, each won twice for No. 3-seeded Sage Hill (15-2). Isabella Deckey and Marina Anderson won once.

The Lightning rallied after falling behind, 4-2, after the first round.

Sage Hill plays host to Temecula Valley in a Division 2 quarterfinal match on Monday. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m., but Sage Hill Coach A.G. Longoria said he has requested a 3 p.m. start.
