CIF Individuals girls’ tennis sites announced

Corona del Mar High senior Siena Sharf and junior Jasie Dunk will begin CIF Southern Section Individuals doubles play Monday, highlighting Newport-Mesa locals competing in the tournament.

Sharf and Dunk, the Pacific Coast League doubles champions, will begin CIF Individuals play Monday at The Claremont Club sectional. So will CdM sophomore Danielle Willson, who was league finalist in singles.

The Newport Harbor senior doubles team of Anna Burke and Kendall Cosenza, as well as senior singles player Jenn Kingsley, all of whom were Sunset League finalists, will open CIF Individuals at a different sectional site on Monday, one of six total sites. The Sailors trio will play at The Jack Kramer Club in Rolling Hills Estates.

Sage Hill sophomore Isabella Deckey and freshman Michelle Hung, the Academy League doubles champions, also will open CIF Individuals play at The Jack Kramer Club.

Singles players and doubles teams in the CIF Southern Section qualify for Individuals by advancing to their league’s finals. Those who advance past the sectionals will play either in the round of 32 on Dec. 1 at Whittier Narrows Tennis Center, or the round of 16 on Dec. 2 at Seal Beach Tennis Center.

Draws for the sectional round are not revealed until the day the tournament begins.
