Vanguard women’s volleyball falls, but advances to bracket play at NAIA Tournament

Midland def. Vanguard

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Juanae Johnson led the Lions with 14 kills, but Midland won the match, 25-22, 24-26, 25-22, 25-16, to close out pool play at the NAIA Tournament at the Tyson Events Center.

Vanguard (24-6) and Midland of Nebraska (32-3) were the top two teams of Pool F and advanced to the first round of the single-elimination bracket.

Vanguard will face Mid America Nazarene of Kansas on Friday. Vanguard is the No. 7 seed and Mid America Nazarene is No. 10.

The Lions’ Charlotte Heerlyn had 10 kills against Midland. Kiana Nicio led VU with 17 digs and Kelly Dalrymple led with 25 assists.
