The Texas-based visitors, tied or No. 10 in the NAIA, overcame a 27-25 halftime deficit to improve to 8-2.

Vanguard, which has not won since being ranked No. 1, falls to 4-3.

Maya Kennedy led Vanguard with 19 points, while Samantha Doucette had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Kandyce Smith chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds.

Vanguard lost to MidAmerica Nazarene of Kansas, 69-58, on Friday.

WAXAHACHIE, Texas — Senior Jaamon Echols led four Lions in double figures with 19 points against the Florida-based school at the Assemblies of God Classic on Friday.

Zach Allmon had 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Malachi Hoosein had 17 points and seven boards for the No. 21-ranked winners (8-2).

Brandon Brothers had 11 points for Vanguard, which fell, 87-81, on Thursday to host Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

Vanguard return to action on Dec. 29, when it plays host to the Bill Reynolds Holiday Classic.

Orange Coast 68, Los Angeles Pierce 62

GLENDALE — The Pirates won their second straight game on Saturday in the Glendale tournament to improve to 8-4.
