American Collegiate Rowing Assn. national championships

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Orange Coast College second novice eight boat won its final Sunday to claim the national crown and top four OCC boats that reached their respective finals on Lake Lanier.

OCC’s second novice eight completed the 2,000-meter course in six minutes, 18.8 seconds, just more than a second better than runner-up UC Santa Barbara.

The Pirates’ championship boat included Josh Tandy-McGlasson, Sawyer Schardt, Garrett O’Neill, Grant Midstokke, Bryan Fullam, Jose Llanes, Ryan Russell, Cole Parsons, and coxswain Karina Dubourdieu.

OCC’s men’s novice eight finished third in 6:10.8, four seconds behind victorious Michigan. The Pirates’ boat consisted of Dan Ross, Mark Town, Rob McClure, Connor Breen, Rhodri John, Troy Harding, Gordon Pershall, John Kinnear and coxswain Riley Ritchie.

OCC’s varsity eight finished sixth in 6:04.5. That boat included Weston Cole, Luke Morton, Ben Orem, Logan Carter, David Ulicki, Max Hadden, Jacob Studer, Sam Melvin and coxswain Chasy Wray.

OCC’s men’s varsity four finished seventh (6:54.2). That lineup was Lorenzo Salvio, David Elder, Andrei Iantichii, Josh Wills-King and coxswain Kristina Lambert.

WOMEN’S ROWING

American Collegiate Rowing Assn. national championships

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Orange Coast College earned silver medals in the varsity eight and novice four races, completed Sunday on Lake Lanier.

The varsity eight completed the 2,000-meter course in six minutes, 50.9 seconds, just off the pace of victorious UC Santa Barbara (6:48.8).

The OCC boat included Tess Burney, Claireliece Kennedy, Maya Takeuchi, Elery Bermudez, Marissa Bonnefin, Kristen Klein, Abigail Daniels, Danielle Dubois, and coxswain Sophie Blair.

OCC’s novice four of Jacqueline Stockton, Danielle Lurya, Abigail Morgan, Madison Hank and coxswain Frankie Garzzi posted a time of 7:55.09, nearly six seconds behind champion Oregon.

OCC’s Alexis Aeillo finished fourth in the singles final, posting a time of 9:02.1.

OCC was third in the team standings with 211 points.
