SAN LUIS OBISPO — Randall McDermott and Jorge Lara scored to pace the visiting Anteaters in the Big West Conference game on Saturday.

Ivan Canales had a pair of assists for UCI (3-10, 1-3 in conference), for which Alex Waldron and Elliot Farmer combined for the shutout.

Cal Poly is 2-7-2, 0-3-1.

Hope International 2, Vanguard 1

FULLERTON — Jared Gould scored in the 69th minute to cut into a 2-0 deficit for the visiting Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference contest Saturday.

Carlos Yepez had the assist for No. 12-ranked Vanguard (7-3, 1-3 in conference).

HIU is 10-0-2, 4-0.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Vanguard 2, Hope International 0

FULLERTON — Danyelle Allen and Haley Bruce scored for the visiting Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Madison Lopp had an assist for Vanguard (9-3, 4-1 in conference), for which Haley Magana had two saves to record the shutout.

HIU is 6-3-2, 1-2-1.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

UC Irvine def. UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE — Harlee Kekauoha had 17 kills, 12 digs and six block assists to lead the visiting Anteaters to a 26-28, 26-24, 25-19, 25-17 Big West Conference win on Saturday.

Danielle Geiger (12 kills, 15 digs and four block assists), Haley DeSales (12 kills and 15 digs), Victoria Dennis (14 kills), Shelley Anderson (53 assists and three aces) and Luna Tsujimoto (17 digs) also stood out for the ‘Eaters (7-13, 2-4 in conference).

Riverside is 5-11, 0-4.

Vanguard def. Hope International

FULLERTON – Aubryn Coale had 17 kills to lead the visiting Lions to a 21-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-14 Golden State Athletic Conference victory on Saturday.

Rebecca Lowden had 20 digs for the Lions (8-13, 5-3 in conference).

HIU is 10-8, 4-4.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Vanguard Invitational

ORANGE — Sophomore Danny Dominguez finished third to help Orange Coast College finish third in the team standings on Saturday at Irvine Regional Park.

Vanguard junior Jeronimo Brito finished second to help the Lions finish fourth as a team.

Dominguez completed the 8,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 25.4 seconds to lead the Pirates.

Galyn Nash was eighth (26:11.71) and Peter Costanzo was 19th (26:58.45) for OCC.

Brito finished in 25:51, while teammate Zach Hunt was fifth (25:59).

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Vanguard Invitational

ORANGE — Orange Coast College sophomore Alyssa Allen won the individual title and the Pirates finished sixth as a team on Saturday at Irvine Regional Park.

Allen completed the 5,000-meter course in five minutes, 58.5 seconds.

Vanguard finished eighth as a team.

MEN’S TENNIS

San Diego State Invitational

SAN DIEGO — UC Irvine sophomore Luis Lopez and junior Luca Marquard won the Flight One consolation doubles championship of the three-day event on Sunday at San Diego State.

Lopez and Marquard defeated Grand Canyon’s Justin Cvitanovic and Valentin Lang, 8-4, in the finalm third third straight triumph after losing their first match on Friday.

Freshman Moritz Geis, who picked up victories over individuals from No. 12 USC and Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, was unable to advance to the Flight 1 singles final. He fell to eventual champion Lorenzo Fucile of Grand Canyon, 6-2, 7-6 (3).

MEN’S WATER POLO

Riverside tournament

RIVERSIDE —Orange Coast College went 2-2 in the event completed Saturday at Riverside City College.

OCC opened with an 11-7 win over Cuesta, lost to Long Beach, 7-2, defeated Los Angeles Valley, 10-5, and lost to Grossmont, 9-7.

Parker Evans had five goals in the Cuesta win, while Kevin Dayan had three goals in the other victory.

OCC is 12-4.

USC 20, UC Irvine 4

The host Anteaters received two goals apiece from Jack Trush and Ryan Warde in the nonconference game Sunday.

UCI is 7-7.

The No. 3-ranked Trojans are 14-1.
