College Roundup: UCI’s Kim takes third in event

SIMI VALLEY — UC Irvine junior David Kim finished third to help the Anteaters place second as a team in the 54-hole event concluded Tuesday at Wood Ranch Golf Club.

Kim shot nine-under-par 207 over the two-day tournament, including a four-under 68 on Tuesday.

Freshman Jonathan Kang was ninth (210), and sophomore Ramiz Jamal (25th at 216) also stood out for UCI, which finished at 15-under-par 849, 16 shots behind UC Santa Barbara.

MEN’S WATER POLO

UC Irvine 14, Chapman 4

Freshman Bryant Joudrie scored a career-high five goals and Ryan Warde added four to lead the host Anteaters in the nonconference game Tuesday.

Matej Matijevic had 13 saves for UCI (8-8).

Chapman is 2-11.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Orange Coast 1, Saddleback 1

MISSION VIEJO — Lupe Rodriguez converted an assist from Rachel Moxley in the 22nd minute to produce the visiting Pirates’ goal in the Orange Empire Conference game Tuesday.

Saddleback (8-2-5, 5-2-3 in conference) got the equalizer in the 57th minute.

OCC (9-3-3, 6-2-2) posted a 14-4 advantage in shots.
