Victor Evans had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead the host Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Tuesday.

Evans was five for eight from the field, including two for three from three-point range, and netted seven of eight foul shots for the Lions (14-7, 3-4 in conference).

It was the third straight loss for Vanguard, which had 16 points from Brandon Hood and 10 from Malachi Hoosein.

Hope International 57, Vanguard 43

FULLERTON — Zach Allmon had 11 points and seven rebounds to lead the visiting Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Vanguard shot 29.3% from the field (11 for 57), including one for 19 from three-point range.

Vanguard fell to 14-6, 3-3 in conference.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Hawaii def. UC Irvine

Thomas Hodges had a career-bests 21 kills to lead the host Anteaters in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Saturday.

No. 5 Hawaii prevailed, 25-16, 25-23, 15-25, 25-23, over the No. 6-ranked ‘Eaters, who lost for the first time at home.

Scott Stadick hit .533 with eight kills and a team-best four blocks for UCI (6-2, 3-2 in conference).

Hawaii is 6-2, 2-1.

UC Irvine def. UC San Diego

LA LOLLA — Tamir Hershko and Thomas Hodges each had a season-best 15 kills to help the visiting Anteaters prevail, 25-23, 25-19, 26-28, 23-25, 17-15, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Friday.

Andrew Benz had 11 kills and four blocks and Scott Stadick had nine kills and three blocks for the No. 6-ranked Anteaters.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Vanguard 61, Hope International 50

FULLERTON — Senior Claire Lamunu had 18 points and nine rebounds for the visiting No. 5-ranked Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Maya Kennedy added 13 points and netted four of nine three-pointers for the winners (17-1, 6-0 in conference).

HIU fell to 4-11, 0-7.
