High School Roundup: Sage Hill makes CIF in eight-man football

8-Man Playoffs
In Sage Hill School’s debut season in eight-man football, it qualified for the CIF Southern Section playoffs.
Sage Hill (5-3), a freelance team, plays defending Division 1 champion Avalon (8-0) in the first round at Cabrillo High in Long Beach on Friday at 3 p.m.
The meeting marks the second between the two programs this year. Sage Hill played host to Avalon on Sept. 23, when the Lancers won, 60-44.
Avalon, the Express League champion, has won its last 19 games dating back to last year.

Kendall Kipp had 12 kills and Brooke Cuthbertson added 10 kills for the Sea Kings who swept 25-4, 25-18, 25-12 in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs on Tuesday.
Ashley Humphreys (seven kills), Haley Petrucci (five kills), Christina Davenport (four kills) and Blair Hodges (three kills) also contributed for the Sea Kings (19-10), who play at top-seeded Santa Margarita on Thursday night.
BOYS’ WATER POLO

Tanner Pulice and Tamir Avital scored four goals each for the Sea Kings in a Pacific Coast League game on Tuesday.
Sam Wardwell and Henry Wilde added three goals each. Wardwell and Will Rodosky had three steals each. Rodosky led the Sea Kings with five assists.
