High School Roundup: CdM girls’ soccer wins again

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 2, Serrano 1

Ava Mckenzie scored a goal and produced an assist for the Sea Kings in the nonleague match on Thursday at CdM.

Megan Chelf scored in the 39th minute on a pass from Mckenzie. Mckenzie scored on a pass from Sarah Neiger in the 51st minute.

Goalie Ally Lozano made six saves for CdM (9-0).

The Sea Kings play in the Sunny Hills tournament on Saturday. They open against Corona at 9:30 a.m. at Santiago High.

Newport Harbor 1, Rosary 1

Sianna Siamonsma scored two minutes into extra time on a pass from Emily Johnson to help the Sailors tie the nonleague match on Thursday.

Goalie Ryah Montano made four saves for Newport Harbor (4-0-2).

Costa Mesa 2, Santiago 0

Rayleen Chavez provided one goal and one assist for the Mustangs in the nonleague game Thursday.

Sierra Dixon also scored a goal for Costa Mesa.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Newport Harbor 11, San Clemente 8

Jessica Lynch scored six goals and had one assist for the Sailors in the nonleague game on Thursday.

Karis Couch had two goals and one steal. Karla Whelan, Quince Morgan and Sara Barker scored one goal each for Newport Harbor.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Newport Harbor 66, Costa Mesa 53

Zach Blaine scored 18 points to lead the Saliors in the nonleague game Thursday at NHHS.

Collin Pipkin added 14 points and seven assists for Newport Harbor (6-4), which plays at San Juan Hills Friday night.
