IRVINE — Collin Pipkin finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals to lead the visiting Sailors back from a 15-point deficit in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA playoffs on Wednesday.

Zach Blaine had 18 points for Newport Harbor (17-12), which advanced to Friday’s second round to play host to Buena Park on Friday at 7 p.m.

Edison 86, Inglewood 79

Randall Walker led the host Chargers with 36 points in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1AA playoffs on Wednesday.

Matt Serven had 25 points and four three-pointers.

The Chargers (23-4) play at Tahquitz (23-4) in the second round on Friday at 7 p.m.

Huntington Beach 77, Long Beach Millikan 69

LONG BEACH — Cooper Starkel had 18 points for the Oilers in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1A playoffs on the road Wednesday.

Huntington Beach (18-11) plays at Los Angeles Loyola (17-10) in the second round on Friday at 7 p.m.

Laguna Beach 67, Pioneer 60

Grady Morgan recorded 23 points for the host Breakers in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3AA playoffs on Wednesday.

Laguna Beach (19-10) plays at No. 2-seeded Crean Lutheran (22-6) on Friday at 7 p.m.

Ocean View 61, Glendora 56

Mehkel Harvey finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, three assists and one steal for the host Seahawks in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3AA playoffs on Wednesday.

Ocean View (22-6) plays host to Montebello Schurr (21-7) in the second round on Friday at 7 p.m.

Santiago 52, Costa Mesa 50

GARDEN GROVE — Nico Dasca led the Mustangs with 21 points in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4AA playoffs on the road Wednesday.

Costa Mesa ended the season 10-18 overall.

Sage Hill 63, Chadwick 55

Dominic Sadeghi produced 31 points for the Lightning in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4A playoffs at home on Wednesday.

Sage Hill (18-7) advances to play at Romoland Heritage (18-8) in the second round on Friday at 7 p.m.

Pacifica Christian 76, Bethel Baptist 34

Timmy Bahadoor had 18 points for the No. 2-seeded Tritons, who won their first CIF Southern Section playoff game in school history on Wednesday.

Pacifica Christian (20-3), in its first varsity season, plays host to La Verne Lutheran (15-6) in a Division 6 second-round game on Friday at 7 p.m.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Laguna Beach 19, El Toro 4

Aria Fischer scored four goals for the Breakers in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs Wednesday at Laguna Beach High.

Claire Sonne had three goals, while Bella Baldridge, Sophia Lucas and Evan Tingler had two goals each.

The top-seeded Breakers (28-0) will play against Los Alamitos in the quarterfinals Saturday.

Long Beach Wilson 1, Newport Harbor 0

LONG BEACH — Chandler Siemonsma, who broke his right hand last month, made his return as goalkeeper and made eight saves for the visiting Sailors in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs on Wednesday.

Newport Harbor (7-11-3 overall), which took third in the Sunset League, ended the season with six straight losses.

The Bruins (16-9-4) advanced to Wednesday’s second round. They play the winner of Friday’s first-round contest between Palm Springs and No. 2-seeded South Torrance.

Temecula Valley 3, Laguna Beach 1

TEMECULA — Walmer Landaverde converted a penalty kick for the Breakers in the wild-card round of the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs on the road Wednesday.

The Breakers, the third-place team from the Orange Coast League, finished 6-9-4 overall.

Temecula Valley (10-7-7) plays a first-round match at No. 1-seeded Montclair (24-1-1) on Friday.
