Vanguard’s Lamunu shines
For the fifth time in six weeks, Vanguard University senior Claire Lamunu was named Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball.
The 6-foot-1 forward from Uganda averaged 21 points and 14 rebounds in wins at Westmont (Feb. 7) and at home against Hope International (Feb. 11).
Lamunu was a combined 18 for 35 from the field and six for six from the free-throw line. She had two blocks against Westmont and chipped in two assists and two steals against Hope.
The No. 3-ranked Lions were upset at No. 17-ranked Biola on Tuesday to put an end to their 20-game winning streak.
Vanguard (24-2, 12-1 in conference) visits Arizona Christian for a GSAC game Saturday at 3 p.m., then plays host to No, 6-ranked Westmont on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
