Girls’ Lacrosse: Mulvaney PCL’s best

Corona del Mar High junior Kennedy Mulvaney has earned Pacific Coast League MVP honors in girls’ lacrosse.

Joining Mulvaney as first-team all-league honorees are CdM teammates Kennedy McGuinness, Jensen Coop, Katherine Mulvaney and Ellery Amdor.

The versatile Mulvaney, a midfielder committed to Fresno State, is a repeat first-team all-league selection. She was second on CdM with 46 goals and had team-best totals of 49 assists, 56 ground balls, 62 draw controls and nine interceptions.

Mulvaney helped CdM (18-3, 9-1 in league) share the Pacific Coast League title with rival Beckman and advance to the U.S. Lacrosse Southern Section South Division semifinals, in which the Sea Kings lost to top-seeded eventual champion Mater Dei, 12-7. CdM’s No. 4 playoff seeding was the best in program history.

Coop, a junior midfielder who is committed to San Diego State, was another repeat first-team selection. She led the Sea Kings with 54 goals and was second on the team with 42 draw controls.

McGuinness, a senior co-captain, was fourth on CdM in goals (28) and draw controls (24).

Katherine Mulvaney, a junior defender, was second on CdM with 21 takeaways.

Amdor, a freshman midfielder, was third on the team with her totals of 32 goals and 15 assists.

CdM senior midfielder Caroline Bethel, senior attacker Paige Nelson, sophomore defender Hailey Neumann, sophomore goalie Ashley Olson and freshman defender Joslyn Simaan all earned second-team all-league honors.
