Quest Truxton, a former Newport Harbor High football standout who earned All-California Region III honors and was twice named All-Southern Conference as a receiver and kick returner for Golden West College, has signed to continue his career at San Diego State, Golden West Coach Nick Mitchell said Friday.

Truxton led his team with 68 receptions for 902 yards and 10 touchdowns and produced 1,555 all-purpose yards to help the Rustlers finish 8-3 and earn a bowl berth in 2015.

He averaged 26.1 yards on 15 kickoff returns and 11.6 yards on 18 punt returns as a 6-foot, 180-pound sophomore last fall, when Golden West opened the season 8-0 and was ranked No. 1 in the state.

As a senior, he set school single-season records for receptions (83), receiving yards (1,325) and touchdown catches (17) and posted 20 total touchdowns to help lead the Sailors to the Southwest Division title game.

As a junior for the Tars in 2012, he had 48 catches for 762 yards and 11 touchdowns.
