A Paramount woman was arrested after a pedestrian was killed by a car early Saturday in Newport Beach.

Police responded at about 1:10 a.m. to a report of a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and 30th Street.

The pedestrian was crossing the intersection when he was hit by a 2007 Nissan 350z traveling south on Newport Boulevard, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.

The vehicle continued without stopping, police said.

The pedestrian, identified by Orange County coroner’s officials as Christopher Roth, 24, of Cypress, was taken to a trauma center where he died of his injuries less than an hour after the crash, police said. It is not clear whether Roth was in a crosswalk.

The results of toxicology tests, which could indicate whether Roth was intoxicated at the time of the crash, will not be released for at least a month, police said.

The vehicle believed to have been involved was found abandoned near 19th Street and Court Street, about a half-mile from the crash site, police said.

Nancy Diana Flores, 21, whom police suspect was the driver, was later contacted in Paramount, where she lives.

Police were unable to determine whether Flores was intoxicated at the time of the crash because they did not locate her in time to test her blood for alcohol.

Flores was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and hit-and-run resulting in death. She was booked into Orange County Jail with bail set at $100,000.

The crash remains under investigation, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Dave Darling at (949) 644-3746 or ddarling@nbpd.org.
