‘Secret Garden’ ballet coming to Irvine Barclay Theatre

Festival Ballet Theatre, Orange County’s resident professional ballet company, will introduce its 2016-17 season with the ballet “Secret Garden” on Oct. 15 and 16 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre in Irvine, according to a news release.

“Secret Garden,” centered on the restoration of a neglected garden as a metaphor for the revival of the spirit, was inspired by Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic novel. Choreography is by Josie Walsh, an original cinematic score is by Paul Rivera Jr. and the multimedia scenic design is by David Bazemore, according to the release.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 and 2 p.m. Oct. 16.

Tickets are $39 to $45.

Festival Ballet Theatre’s newest season will also include the perennial family holiday favorite “The Nutcracker,” the classic “Don Quixote” and the annual Gala of the Stars, with top international ballet dancers performing, also also at the Barclay.
