Around Town: Outlets at San Clemente goes all out for tree lighting

Thousands of guests created warm holiday memories during Outlets at San Clemente’s second annual tree lighting Nov. 19.

Families enjoyed feeding live reindeer, taking photos with Santa, listening to roaming carolers and enjoying performances by local group Sophia Dion Band. Face painting, balloon animals and complimentary hot cocoa were also part of the festivities, and kids could participate in arts and crafts activities, including writing letters to Santa and creating candy cane reindeer.

Guests helped Santa count down to the lighting of a fresh-cut 40-foot tall white fir tree from Mt. Shasta, which was covered in more than 6,000 twinkling, multi-colored lights. The grand finale featured snow falling over attendees at the shopping center.
