Harold J Miller passed away peacefully on January 8, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old. Harold was pre-deceased by Mary Lou, his bride of 65 years, only 12 days prior. They were never meant to be apart.

Harold was born in Zap, North Dakota and moved to Hollywood, CA as a teenager. After graduating from Hollywood High School, Harold, as part of the “Greatest Generation”, served in WW II as a B-24 gunner in the Pacific theater. He was honorably discharged receiving several medals for his service and bravery. Harold attended UCLA, graduating with a degree in Chemistry. He worked for The Los Angeles County Agriculture Dept. for some 35 years, culminating as a senior inspector for the eastern San Fernando Valley.

Harold and Mary Lou settled in Burbank for all of their 65 years together where they raised their only son, Mark. Harold’s interests included most anything Mary Lou wanted to do, spending time with his son and serving immediate and extended family in any way he could. Harold was a talented woodworker, creating many items still lovingly used today. After retiring, he volunteered at the County Agriculture Dept. for several years. He was a wonderful story-teller, giving all who heard a fabulous picture of his interesting life, particularly his war-time experiences. Harold’s pride and joy were his granddaughters and he cherished his time with them.

Harold is survived by his son, Mark Miller and daughter-in-law Susan (née Wilkinson), as well as his granddaughters Sarah Morphew (Alan), Rachel Miller, Jacqueline Vinci (Michael, Jr.), and Megan Miller. He also leaves behind 2 great grandsons, Dylan Morphew and Michael Vinci III, his brother Ralph Miller ( Patricia), sister, June Miller Longshore and sister-in-law Lois Taron (née Becker) as well as many nieces and nephews. Harold was the rock of the Miller Family and his passing leaves a very big void.

A memorial celebration for Harold and Mary Lou Miller was held at 2pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Belmont Village, 455 E. Angeleno Ave, Burbank, CA 91501.

A donation can be made in Harold & Mary Lou’s memory to St. Paul’s First Lutheran School c/o 5244 Tujunga Ave., North Hollywood, CA 91601.
