Mariano V. Tomasino December 14, 1913 – July 2, 2012

Mariano Victor Tomasino passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 2, 2012, at the age of ninety-eight from complications of congestive heart failure. He is survived by his wife of seventy-seven years, Mary; Children: Linda Scheck (Ed), Gino Tomasino (Lillian); Grandchildren: Stephanie Penticuff (Mark), Stephen Scheck (Heather) and Gino Tomasino (Kathy); Great-grandchildren: Sydney and Bennett Penticuff, Gretchen and Eddie Scheck and Shylo Lucia Tomasino.
Mariano was born in Rochester, NY, and came to California with his beloved wife, Mary, in 1939. He had a long and successful career as a Property Master in the motion picture and television industry. He worked on many movies during the 1940’s, including several made for the war effort. He moved into television production in the early years and worked on such shows as “I Love Lucy”, “The Line Up/San Francisco Beat” and “Lassie”.
After he retired, he and Mary traveled extensively and he took up golf playing with his golf buddies long into his nineties. He was active in the Keystone Seniors Club at the Joslyn Center in Burbank and the Warner Bros. Retirees Club, serving on the boards of both organizations. He enjoyed serving people and making their lives brighter by personally distributing “day-old” baked goods to charitable groups for years. He led people on many “fun bus” trips to Laughlin, local Indian Casinos and Las Vegas by organizing the trips and providing entertainment and prizes for all who signed up. He made sure each trip was fun for everyone and also enabled them to earn a little profit for the club so that the seniors could benefit from activities such as special Mother’s and Father’s Day and Holiday celebrations. His motto was to live life to the fullest and to make every day the best it could be.
Mariano and Mary moved to Burbank in 1945 and enjoyed living in that community, raising their children there and staying connected with many long-time residents and shop owners. Their motto for their long and successful marriage was to always kiss good night and they did until their last night together.
There will be a Memorial Funeral Mass on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 12 noon at St. Finbar Catholic Church, 2120 West Olive Avenue, Burbank, CA 91506. Burial will be private at San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery.
