Shoppers looking for unique gifts or handmade crafts can head to the 32nd annual Montrose Arts and Crafts Festival this weekend, which will feature more than 300 vendors carrying everything from handmade jewelry and ceramics to metal works.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Honolulu Avenue from Verdugo Road to Las Palmas Avenue will be closed to traffic for the festival.
“It’s a great festival just to come and have fun at, bring your family, because it’s very family-oriented,” said Dee Ovenden, who has been coordinating the event for 12 years.
The event will also feature a kid’s zone with face painting, pony rides, rock climbing and a petting zoo.
There will also be an international food court — with seating for 100 people — and serving a variety of food including Hawaiian rotisserie chicken, Thai food and tamales.
Ovenden expects that up to 25,000 people will pass through over the weekend.
The event, which is sponsored by the Montrose Shopping Park Assn., will also include food vendors and live entertainment. Admission is free.
