Glendale man enters no contest plea in electrocution case
A 21-year-old Glendale man suspected of speeding when his car knocked over a light pole and a fire hydrant leading to the electrocution deaths of two women pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
On Aug. 22, 2012, Arman Samsonian was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed on Magnolia Boulevard in Valley Village when his car crashed at Ben Avenue, said Deputy District Atty. Ron Carey in a statement.
He said the resulting pool of water was energized from the broken hydrant combined with exposed electrical wires.
Irma Yolanda Zamora, 40, and Stacey Lee Schreiber, 39, were electrocuted as they tried to help Samsonian after he crashed.
Samsonian is due back at the Van Nuys branch of the Los Angeles County Superior Court on June 6 for sentencing.
He faces a three-year probation sentence and 70 days of community service. He will also pay restitution to the victim’s families, but the amount hasn’t been set.
