The woman found dead at the Days Inn in Glendale on Wednesday suffered a possible gunshot wound to her jaw, coroner’s officials said Thursday.
The death was reported to coroner’s officials as a possible homicide, according to Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter.
The deceased, who was not identified pending the notification of next of kin, was described as a woman in her 20s, who checked into the hotel on Sunday, he said.
According to Winter, housekeeping went in to clean the room on Wednesday — the day the woman was slated to check out — and found the body.
No weapon was located, Winter said.
Police were called to the hotel, located in the 400 block of Pioneer Drive, on Wednesday evening.
No arrests have been made.
The investigation occurred just a day after what police said was an unrelated incident in which a 62-year-old man barricaded himself in a room at the same hotel location for more than two hours after firing a single gunshot. He subsequently surrendered and was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm.
