BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

Linda LaZar

While driving down Foothill Boulevard around 9 p.m., I noticed a large

neon sign in the window of a veterinary clinic that read “OPEN.” Since it

was 9 p.m., I imagined that the office staff forgot to turn the sign off.

On the way back up Foothill Boulevard, 30 minutes later, I noticed the

front door was open. Longtime pet owner that I am, I had a hard time

believing that a veterinary clinic would be open for regular business

during the night, so I investigated.

I discovered a surprise. The clinic, which was indeed operating

during nighttime hours, belongs to a friend of mine who moved out of the

area about five years ago.

Frank Camuso used to be my neighbor. Frank has always been

an extremely friendly and kind person. I used to see him doing nice

things for others without ever looking for anything in return. I

especially began to admire his kind heart and generosity after I realized

that he was attending law school while working full time, after he had

already earned a degree in veterinary medicine. This eclectic person has

always amazed me.

Frank’s appreciation for the judicial system didn’t deter him from his

appreciation for animals. After graduating from law school, he moved out

of the area and opened an emergency veterinary clinic in Torrance.

Apparently, the clinic was well accepted, and now Frank has returned to

La Crescenta to open his fifth emergency clinic.

The Affordable Animal Emergency Clinic is a labor of love for Frank.

He likes animals and understands the financial burden that an unexpected

illness or injury can have on a family when facing pet emergencies.

The clinic is so new to the area, that it still does not have a sign

on the front of the building advertising its arrival. It is located

within the premises of a daytime facility called Crescenta-Canada Pet

Hospital.

The Affordable Animal Emergency Clinic may seem like a long title, but

for good reason. It explains what Frank wants the public to understand.

The animal emergency costs are low, which allows you to afford health

care for your pet. Along with the human-friendly costs, the hours are

ideal for the worried pet owner.

Pets need their owners to comfort them, and the Affordable Animal

Emergency Clinic staff encourages you to help in the treatment process.

The clinic prides itself on offering your pet affordable, compassionate

care when your veterinarian is not available.

The Affordable Animal Emergency Clinic is at 3502 Foothill Blvd., La

Crescenta. You can call the clinic during emergency business hours from 6

p.m. to 8 a.m. at 236-3665.
