Target opens store in Eagle Rock

Karen S. Kim

Glendale residents’ treks to find a nearby Target store just got a

little shorter.

Target has taken over space previously occupied by Montgomery

Wards at Westfield Shoppingtown Eagle Rock and will celebrate a grand

opening Sunday.

“We’re extremely excited to have Target join our retail

community,” said Kathy Shaw, senior marketing director for Westfield

Shoppingtown Eagle Rock. “We think it’s going to be a great asset.”

The store is at the east end of the shopping center. The new

location occupies about 144,000 square feet and will feature two

levels of housewares, clothing, gifts, toys and other items. The

store also offers a full-service pharmacy.

“This is actually a new concept, having Target as a department

store anchor in a shopping center,” Shaw said. “But we really feel

that by aligning ourselves with Target, we are reaching a new market

we haven’t been able to reach before.”

The store’s grand opening will kick off at 9 a.m. The event will

include various children’s and fashion shows, coupon flier giveaways,

Target gift card drawings, balloon art and face painting. In

addition, KOST-FM (103.5) representatives will give away prizes, and

a gift with purchase -- a $10 Musicland gift card -- will be

available to customers spending $100 at Target.

Westfield Shoppingtown Eagle Rock is at 2700 Colorado Blvd. in

Eagle Rock. For more information, call (323) 258-1355.
