A two-vehicle traffic accident on the Ventura (134) Freeway in

Glendale near Harvey Drive and the Glendale (2) Freeway on Thursday

sent a 30-foot racing boat sailing -- off its trailer hitch and

across two lanes.

CHP and the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 2:29 p.m.

call that a boat, named Sea Flash, had detached from a trailer being

towed by a green Chevy Suburban, according to CHP public affairs

officer Vince Ramirez.

Far left lanes were blocked for more than 30 minutes, Ramirez

said. No information about the other car or driver was released as of

press time, although officials said no one was injured in the

accident.

Steve Muradyan, 30, of Van Nuys, was driving the Suburban with his

girlfriend, Crystal Williams, 27, in the passenger seat.

Williams, a Studio City resident, said they were clipped from

behind by another car and lost control of the Suburban, the trailer

and the boat. CHP officials could not be reached to confirm Williams’

statement.

“Stuff like this happens to [Steve] all the time. He has the worst

luck of anyone I know,” Williams said. The “funny” thing about the

incident, according to Williams, is that Muradyan owns his own towing

and body shop, Precise Auto Body, in Van Nuys.

One bit of news Muradyan will undoubtedly not find funny: damage

to his vehicles was estimated at about $400,000, Williams said.

The amazing thing is that no other cars or drivers were affected

by the incident, Williams added.

“It’s kind of ironic. He may try to fix some things, but we will

probably end up getting a new boat and trailer,” Williams said.
