Club Lush has new name, new owners

Gretchen Hoffman

The manager of The Cage Club says it’s a little lusher than it was

under its former ownership.

Michael Khorsandi and Chad Aldwood bought Club Lush last month

from Key Marketing Group, which still owns the Santa Monica club of

the same name, and have remodeled the nightclub and opened it under a

new name.

The owners, who also run Aftershock in Studio City, wanted a fresh

start to go with the new name: The lighting and sound systems have

been overhauled, the bar has been stripped and new carpeting has been

installed.

“It’s a good location and a good opportunity,” Khorsandi said.

The location has changed ownership frequently through the years.

Part of the turnover is due to the location, manager Gary Levin said.

It’s harder to draw patrons to Glendale, which has few nightclubs,

than to Hollywood, for example, where club-goers can walk from bar to

bar.

“It takes somebody that has a lot of money or is extremely

connected,” Levin said. “You must pull the business into this place.

[Former owners] ran out of money or they got aggravated trying. You

just need the right event, that’s all.”

Levin said they target people looking for a site to host special

events -- bachelorette parties and film-industry private parties, for

example -- and those that are looking for ambience.

“It’s a large, funky, way comfortable room where the area allows

you to play as loud as you want -- you won’t bother anybody,” he

said. “The room’s got a good vibe to it. If I could transport this

room to other places, I’d be a millionaire.”
