CV SOCCER CLUB
The Crescenta Valley Soccer Club, an under-11 girls squad,
competed in the championship match of the Odyssey Cup Tournament in
Torrance.
CV, coached by Andrea Otero, dropped a 2-0 decision to the Long
Beach Force white team. CV advanced to the championship match Jan. 11
with victories against the Westside Breakers, Freedom Soccer Club and
the Long Beach Force red team.
Cecilia Martinez, Jordan Royer, Vanessa Capra, Carli Opland,
Hannah Gerald, Amanda Slover, Krystina Oberhammer, Sara Norwall, Kate
Sappel, Savannah Rhoads, Hannah Lowenthal, Olivia Sierra, Whitney
Cowell and Allie Woodward played well for CV.

14-AND UNDER
Glendale 13 Ghosts 4, Temple City 3: Amy Bishop scored the winning
goal to power Glendale to the Area 1C Division III title on Thursday
at the Arcadia Civic Center. It marked the first time that Glendale
has captured the title, and it will compete March 6-7 in the
Sectional Finals in Hemet.
The 13 Ghosts (18-3) fell behind, 2-0, before they recuperated.
Amy Rosales scored two goals to tie the game at 2. Bishop, Raquel
Horowitz and Areila Cruz each recorded an assist for Glendale.
Rosales then scored on a 20-yard shot to give Glendale -- which is
coached by Patrick Chavez -- a 3-2 lead before Temple City tied the
match on a penalty shot.
Destiny Buensucesco had the matching-winning assist.
Ashley Wood, Julie Chavez, Stephanie Pizano and Sara Patterson
played well for Glendale.
Glendale 13 Ghosts 2, Pasadena 0: Amy Rosales and Amy Bishop each
scored a goal to lead Glendale on Jan. 20 at the Arcadia Civic
Center.
Julie Chavez and Destiny Buensucesco earned assists for Glendale,
which received excellent efforts from Sara Patterson, Stephanie
Pizano, Ashley Wood, Alex Gluck, Wendy Tescano, Raquel Horowitz and
Areil Ross.

UNDER-10 ALL-STARS
Turning Tornados 3, South Pasadena 3: Daisy Orelana scored two
goals and Tiffany Austin added one to lead the Turning Tornados in a
match played Jan. 17.
Danielle Buford, Kristina Molder, Amanda Lockwood, Karissa
Dauphin, Anna Vines, Jacquline Phiny and Kristen Responts played well
for the Turning Tornados, who are coached by John Vines and Hazen
Buford.
BOYS’ SOCCER
10-AND-UNDER ALL-STAR
Glendale 2, Boyle Heights 1: David Clark and Mark Verso each
scored a goal Saturday to ignite Glendale (3-0-1).
Joey Viole picked up an assist on Clark’s goal. Reilly Solis
played well in goal for Glendale.
Glendale 2, Arcadia 1: Mark Veroso scored two goals Sunday to lead
Glendale. Veroso scored on a penalty shot and on an indirect kick.
Nigol Margossian, Will Davis, Adam Bistagne, Reilly Solis, Joey
Viole, Dylan Kilgour, Matthew Bracht and Angel Jaramillo played well
for Glendale.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 1, North Hollywood
Harvard-Westlake 0: Alyssa Linton scored for the Tologs in Saturday’s
Mission League road victory.
Kate Baxter, Nicole Charky and Megan Daze played well on defense
for the Tologs.
Flintridge Sacred Heart (12-0-2, 3-0-2 in league) has yielded two
goals this season. It opened the week with a scoreless deadlock
against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.
