Three in GUSD make job moves

Three Glendale Unified School District employees have new jobs with
the district.
Lynda Teems, who was most recently assistant principal at
Jefferson Elementary School, was reassigned to work as the assistant
principal at Balboa Elementary School. Because Jefferson Elementary
School is now on a single-track, year-round schedule, the school no
longer qualifies for an assistant principal, district spokesman Joel
Shapiro said.
Cynthia McCarty, who was a teacher specialist assigned to
administrative work, was promoted to serve as assistant principal at
Horace Mann Elementary School. McCarty once attended Horace Mann as a
student, Shapiro said. She replaced Carla Walker, who was recently
named Valley View Elementary School’s new principal.
Joanna Junge, who coordinated the district’s curriculum and
intercultural education and instructional services, was named
director of special projects and intercultural education. Part of
Junge’s new responsibilities will be overseeing the district’s Title
1 programs, which offer assistance to schools with a large number of
indigent children, Shapiro said.
