OBITUARY

Lorin J. Whitney, a longtime resident of Glendale from the 1950s to 1970s, died on Aug. 29. He was 92.

Whitney was born on Sept. 11, 1914. Early in his career, he was an organist for the original “Haven of Rest” radio program in the 1930s, as well as the Los Angeles Youth for Christ meetings with Billy Graham in the 1940s.

Lorin is survived by his daughter, Joan Larsen; son Gene Whitney; his grandchildren, Erik and Amy Larsen; and great-granddaughter, Camille Larsen.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 600 St. Andrews Road, Newport Beach.
