2012 GCC Hall of Fame inductees named
Tove Berg, Dale Logie, Chet Williams, James McGinley, Jim Sartoris and the 2002 baseball team will be inducted into the Glendale Community College Athletic Hall of Fame. The 11th annual induction ceremony and banquet will take place March 10 on campus at the J. Walter Smith Student Center.
Berg is a five-time state champion in women’s cross-country and track and field for the Lady Vaqueros. She help the cross-country team win the state title in 2006 and won individual track and field state titles in the 5,000- and 10,000-meters in 2007 and 2008.
Logie was an All-American for the Vaquero in football in 1972 and later played on the national championship team at USC in 1974.
Williams was an All-Western State Conference football player at Glendale in 1979 and later played at Washington State University.
McGinley played water polo and swam at GCC from 1977-79 and later rose to the rank of colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
Sartoris has been an outstanding student-athlete, coach, administrator and volunteer at Glendale college for 50 years and had the football field named in his honor in 2005.
The 2002 baseball team coached by Jon Strauss won 34 games, the most in school history, and won the Western State Conference South Division title and advanced to the Southern California Regional playoffs.
