Letter: Glendale Aquatics program makes a big splash

On a recent evening, my family participated for the fifth time in the Glendale Aquatics program’s end-of-summer banquet at Pacific Pool. While enjoying the company of other parents as we watched our children celebrate their accomplishments in the pool with their swimming instructors and coaches, I was overcome with appreciation for all the wonderful aspects of this program.

Thanks to Glendale Aquatics, both of my children have learned to swim properly, participated in competitive swimming meets and water polo, and learned about water safety in the Junior Life Guard program. However, in addition to these benefits, I have realized that this program has given us even more. The instructors and coaches are local high school and college students who serve as wonderful mentors and role models for the children. Their work ethic and dedication are remarkable. My children really look up to their coaches. I hope my children will follow in their footsteps.

Thanks to the program, I have met other Glendale parents that I would not otherwise meet during the school year since the program brings people together from all over Glendale. Each year, the Glendale Aquatics program makes improvements. As a result, the Glendale Aquatics is a vital program of which Glendale should be very proud! I heartily recommend this program to all Glendale families and hope the city will continue to support it.
