Haykaz Melkonyan set a school record in the event with a mark of 145 feet to lead Glendale to a 78-49 victory Wednesday afternoon during a Pacific League home meet against crosstown rival Hoover at Moyse Field. Glendale’s girls’ team picked up a 115-20 victory against Hoover to help the Nitros retain possession of the Bronze Bowl — given to the school with the most total points at the Hoover-Glendale meet — with a 193-69 win.
