Crescenta Valley Briefs: Underage drinking forum by CV Alliance, Rosemont Preserve open-gate event

Rosemont Preserve will host a free open-gate event from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Preserve committee members will be on hand to answer questions about the 7.75 acres of wilderness land.
The preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just beyond the chain-link fence. Street parking is limited, so guests should park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Sturdy shoes are encouraged, and pets are not allowed.

The Crescenta Valley Alliance will hold a free forum to raise community awareness about underage drinking from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, at the Brand Art & Music Library Studios, 1601 W. Mountain St.
Panelists scheduled to participate include Sona Hovsepian of the CV Alliance, Hannah Sheklow of the Village, Lt. Tim Feeley of the Glendale Police Department and Annie Ortega of Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services.

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Golf Tournament will start at 7 a.m. on Friday at the Scholl Canyon Golf Course, 3800 E. Glenoaks Blvd.
Entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart for each pair of golfers, continental breakfast, and a steak-and-salmon lunch following the event with trophy presentations.
Advance entry is $125 per person, $440 for a foursome and $35 just for lunch. Day of entry cost for a foursome is $500.

A free night of family fun filled with food trucks, live music and board games will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA, 1930 Foothill Blvd. There will also be a bounce house, live-dance performance and other activities.
The ongoing event will be held every Friday through Aug. 22 and alternate between the Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA and the Verdugo Hills Family YMCA, 6840 Foothill Blvd., Tujunga.

Art historian Jill Kieffer will continue her lecture series about animal depictions in art from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd.
In next week’s free installment of the “Paws in Art” series, Kieffer will discuss the portrayal of animals during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
