Sports Roundup: Flintridge Sacred Heart basketball edges San Marino in tournament play
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 36, San Marino 35: Camilla Homans finished with 15 points to ignite the Tologs (2-4) on Tuesday in a pool-play game of the Pasadena Poly Tournament.
Glendale 58, Moorpark 53: Glendale (1-1) got 20 points and 11 rebounds from Sylvia Vartazarian on Tuesday to earn a pool-play win in the Burroughs Tournament. Merina Latua had 17 points and Jillian Yanai had 15 for the Nitros, who began the tournament Monday with a 50-33 loss against Granada Hills.
Foothill Tech 64, Hoover 21: The Tornadoes (1-5) fell Tuesday in a Burroughs Tournament contest.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Hoover 83, San Pedro 52: Hoover (4-2) received 27 points from Angel Mino on Tuesday to pick up a victory in the Artesia Tournament. The Tornadoes started the tournament Monday with a 65-64 win against Gabrielino. Mino registered 34 points, including 20 in the second half.
Crescenta Valley 73, Granada Hills 68: Trey Ballard finished with 26 points, Koko Kechichian had 15 points, 13 rebounds and four assists and Journey Shank added 15 points Tuesday to lead the Falcons (2-0) in a Heritage Christian Tournament contest. Crescenta Valley tipped off the tournament Monday with a 87-47 win against Yeshiva, as Ballard collected 30 points and Kechichian added 20.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Glendale 2, Burbank 1: The Nitros picked up a road win in a Pacific League-opening match Tuesday.
Glendale started its season Monday with a 3-2 nonleague home win against Eagle Rock.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Flintridge Prep 4, La Cañada 1: The Rebels (4-0) broke a tie at the half with three second-half goals en route to a victory in pool play action of the Duarte Tournament.
Julia Gonzalez finished with two goals and one assist, while Mikaela Celeste added two goals and Mona Cesario had an assist.
