Sports Roundup: Hoover girls’ soccer knocks off Pasadena
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Hoover 3, Pasadena 1: Emily Sawitskas and Mikayla Giden had a goal and an assist each to lead the Tornadoes to a Pacific League win on Friday at home.
Hoover (4-7, 2-4) also got a goal from Remi Miller.
Crescenta Valley 10, Muir 0: The Falcons won their seventh match in a row Friday, picking up the Pacific League win at home. Crescenta Valley (11-2, 6-0 in league) has yet to allow a goal in league play.
Burroughs 3, Glendale 0: The Nitros were shut out Friday on the road against Burroughs and dropped to 4-5-1, 2-3-1 in the Pacific League.
Providence 2, Glendale Adventist Academy 0: The Cougaars fell in an Independence League match Thursday at the Glendale Sports Complex.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Flintridge Prep 1, Chadwick 0: Tim Treinen scored the only goal in Friday’s Prep League home match at St. Francis High. The Rebels (7-1-1, 2-1 in league) got eight saves from Aidan Schraeder.
Muir 2, Crescenta Valley 1: Despite winning the shot battle by an overwhelming 20-2 margin, Crescenta Valley lost Friday on the road for its first Pacific League defeat.
Tomik Baghramian had the lone goal for the Falcons (13-3-1, 4-1-1 in league), who dropped from first place into a second-place tie with Pasadena trailing Burroughs.
Pasadena 4, Hoover 1: The Tornadoes took a big loss on Friday on the road in Pacific League play and fell to 9-5-2, 2-3-1 in league to tie for fourth with Glendale.
Burroughs 1, Glendale 0: Glendale dropped to 5-4-3, 2-3-1 in the Pacific League with Friday’s loss at home.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
St. Monica Academy 49, Lycee International of Los Angeles 46: The Crusaders picked up a victory Friday at home.
Muir 58, Crescenta Valley 49: Crescenta Valley dropped a Pacific League road contest Friday. The Falcons dipped to 11-6, 3-2 in league.
Loyola 61, St. Francis 51: St. Francis lost a Mission League road game Friday. The Golden Knights are 11-6, 1-3 in league.
Chadwick 63, Flintridge Prep 53: Jake Althouse finished with 21 points Friday for the visiting Rebels in a Prep League game. The Rebels are 4-7, 2-1 in league.
Pasadena 79, Hoover 38: Visiting Hoover fell Friday in a Pacific League contest. The Tornadoes are 6-11, 0-5 in league.
Canoga Park Armenian General Benevolent Union 43, Glendale Adventist Academy 22: The host Cougars (3-5) dropped a nonleague game Thursday.

Pasadena 73, Hoover 16: The Tornadoes lost a Pacific League road contest Friday.
Holy Family 34, San Gabriel Mission 30: The Gaels earned a Horizon League road win Thursday.
Holy Family (4-7, 1-2 in league) received 10 points from Michelle Barraza and seven apiece from Maya Ortega and Rosie Acevedo.
Marymount 57, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 54: Camilla Homans finished with 13 points Thursday for the Tologs in a Mission League road defeat. Sacred Heart fell to 6-13, 0-3 in league.
WRESTLING
Hoover 54, South Pasadena 27: The Tornadoes became one of two undefeated teams in the Rio Hondo League with a victory Thursday afternoon.
Arthur Harutyunyan picked up a pin at 132 pounds, while Omar Gonzalez notched a fall at 220 pounds for the Tornadoes (2-0 in league).
David Aleksanyan and Elmer Moreno also picked up wins at 145 pounds and 195 pounds, respectively, after their opponents were unable to continue their matches.
