Dog killed, 3 people hurt in chain-reaction crash
A car that apparently ran a red light in Huntington Beach Monday afternoon started a chain-reaction crash that killed a dog and sent three people to hospitals, police said.
The car ran through the signal just before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Graham Street, where it collided with another car, causing the second vehicle to spin out, Huntington Beach police spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Marlatt said.
The second car then collided with an Orange County Transportation Authority bus, injuring the bus driver, according to police.
Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free a driver from one of the cars, Marlatt said.
Paramedics took the three injured people to local hospitals.
A dog riding in one of the cars was killed in the collision, police said. Animal-control officers removed the dog’s body, Marlatt said.
Police could not immediately provide more information.
