H.B. man suspected of molesting 2 young girls
A Huntington Beach man is suspected of sexually molesting two young girls, authorities said.
Huntington Beach police responded Thursday to a residence regarding a report of a sexual assault on a girl. Gualberto Torres-Vargas, 37, was arrested, police said.
The Orange County district attorney’s office charged Torres-Vargas with one count each of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 years old, lewd acts with a minor and oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child under 10 years old, police said.
Further investigation revealed that another girl had been sexually molested, police said. Torres-Vargas could face additional charges in connection with that, police said. Both girls are younger than 10, authorities said.
Torres-Vargas is being held in Orange County Jail with bail set at $1 million. He has a court hearing scheduled for Dec. 11, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
