Briefs: HB, OV boys’ water polo teams ranked

Two local boys’ prep water polo teams, Huntington Beach and Ocean View, enter the 2015 season this week with preseason rankings.

Huntington comes in at No. 5 in Division 1. The top spot in the poll belongs to defending division champion Harvard-Westlake, with Mater Dei, Los Angeles Loyola and Orange Lutheran taking spots 2 through four. Following the Oilers, in order, is No. 6 Corona del Mar, Agoura, Newport Harbor, Long Beach Wilson and Los Alamitos.

Ocean View comes in at No. 9 in Division 6. The Seahawks’ Golden West League rival, Segerstrom, heads the rankings. Following the Jaguars are Temescal Canyon, defending division champion Malibu, Beaumont, Hemet, Santa Ynez, Placentia/Valencia, Tustin, Ocean View and Kennedy.

Volleyball clinic

Ohana Athletic Club is offering its second Volleyball Clinic Series each Saturday through September at Los Caballeros Racquet and Sports Club in Fountain Valley (17272 Newhope Street). The cost is $5 per clinic.
